chat... we lost power

well chat... we lost power... for 5 DAYS

let me rewind. it's a normal friday, my daughter is at school, my son is running around the house screaming bloody murder and chasing the cat, when suddenly

BAM!!!

a tree goes down in our front yard and kills the power line (sorry to everyone who lives on my 3-mile-long road in the country) and there goes our power and internet...

mind you we weren't expecting a storm or anything, so we are totally unprepared

now i don't know about you, but my kids don't like the dark so i already knew bedtime was about to suck, and i like to pick and choose my battles... so we booked a hotel room for 2 nights and figured make the best of a crappy situation...

well let me tell you, two kids in a hotel with nothing to do because there's now a windstorm outside... not. fun.

we made the best of it and stayed in the hotel for a couple nights with everyone overstimulated and me with the back of a now 87-year-old after sleeping on a tiny couch bed with my husband

we checked out sunday morning and went home still no power (missed church also which sucked) and decided to get a portable generator because all of our food in the fridge is now done for and the kids couldn't go 5 more seconds without masha the bear or danny go (iykyk)

after days of being told "the power will be back on soon" and it was in fact not soon, we gave up hope of having power and accepted our fate of living like the olden days and made plans to buy chickens and grow our own veggies, but then...

WE SAW THEM FIXING THE POWER LINE!!!

after 5 days they finally got their butts out here and fixed it in 2 hours and HALLELUJAH we had power!

now our kids are less angry, we all showered and brushed our teeth, and we all watched a movie... and this tired momma is relaxing and sleeping in a warm comfy bed with my asmr rug cleaning videos to soothe me to sleep (iykyk)
